Terms of Service

Last updated: July 20, 2026

Welcome to Spliq. These Terms of Service (“Terms”) govern your access to and use of the Spliq application available at https://spliq.org (the “Service”), provided by Spliq (“we,” “us,” or “our”).

By accessing or using the Service, you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service.

1. Description of the Service

Spliq is a task management application that helps you turn your emails into actionable tasks and manage your inbox directly from within the app. Spliq uses a backend server to support core functionality such as user accounts, authentication, and storage of your projects and tasks. However, all interaction with your Gmail account happens exclusively on the client side, in your web browser — your Gmail data and OAuth tokens are never transmitted to or stored on our backend.

To provide this functionality, Spliq connects to your Google account via Google’s OAuth 2.0 authorization and requests access to your Gmail account (including the ability to read, send, and manage your emails) so that these actions can be performed directly from the app interface, at your direction, without involving our servers.

2. Google Account Connection

  • To use the Service, you must connect a Google account and grant the permissions requested during the OAuth authorization flow, including full Gmail access ([https://mail.google.com/](https://mail.google.com/)).
  • You are solely responsible for maintaining the security of your Google account credentials.
  • Your use of your Google account, and any data accessed through it, remains subject to Google’s Terms of Service and Google Privacy Policy, in addition to these Terms.
  • You may revoke Spliq’s access to your Google account at any time through your Google Account permissions page. Doing so will prevent the Service from functioning until access is granted again.
  • Our handling of data obtained through your Google account is described in our Privacy Policy, which is incorporated into these Terms by reference.

3. Your Responsibilities

When using the Service, you agree that you will:

  • Use the Service only for lawful purposes and in accordance with these Terms;
  • Not use the Service to send spam, unsolicited messages, or engage in any abusive, harassing, or fraudulent conduct through your Gmail account;
  • Not attempt to reverse-engineer, decompile, or otherwise interfere with the proper functioning of the Service;
  • Not use the Service in a way that could damage, disable, overburden, or impair Google’s services or infrastructure;
  • Be solely responsible for any actions taken through your Gmail account via the Service (e.g., sending, deleting, or archiving emails), since these actions are performed at your explicit direction.

4. Backend Use and Gmail Data Handling

You acknowledge and agree that:

  • Spliq operates a backend server (hosted on our own infrastructure) to support your account, authentication, and the storage of your projects and tasks, so that this data persists across sessions and devices.
  • All processing of your Gmail data — including reading, sending, and managing emails — occurs entirely within your browser, directly against Google’s APIs. Your Gmail OAuth tokens and raw email content are never transmitted to or stored on our backend.
  • We do not store your emails or Gmail OAuth tokens on any server we operate.
  • Your Gmail OAuth session exists only in your browser and does not persist between sessions; you will need to reauthorize Gmail access if your session ends.
  • Your account, project, and task data is stored on our backend for as long as your account is active, so that it persists across sessions and devices; you may request deletion of this data at any time as described in our Privacy Policy.

5. Intellectual Property

The Service, including its design, code, and branding (excluding your own data and content), is owned by Spliq and protected by applicable intellectual property laws. You are granted a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to use the Service for its intended purpose. You may not copy, modify, distribute, sell, or lease any part of the Service without our prior written consent.

6. Third-Party Services

The Service relies on Google APIs to function. Your use of the Service is also subject to Google’s applicable terms and policies. We are not responsible for the availability, performance, or content of Google’s services, and any interruption or change to Google’s APIs may affect the functionality of Spliq.

7. Disclaimer of Warranties

THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED “AS IS” AND “AS AVAILABLE,” WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, WHETHER EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT. WE DO NOT WARRANT THAT THE SERVICE WILL BE UNINTERRUPTED, ERROR-FREE, OR SECURE, OR THAT ANY EMAIL ACTIONS PERFORMED THROUGH THE SERVICE (E.G., SENDING, DELETING, OR ARCHIVING) WILL BE FREE FROM ERROR.

8. Limitation of Liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW, SPLIQ SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR ANY LOSS OF DATA, EMAILS, OR PROFITS, ARISING OUT OF OR RELATED TO YOUR USE OF THE SERVICE, INCLUDING ANY ACTIONS TAKEN ON YOUR GMAIL ACCOUNT THROUGH THE SERVICE, EVEN IF WE HAVE BEEN ADVISED OF THE POSSIBILITY OF SUCH DAMAGES.

Nothing in these Terms limits any liability that cannot be limited under applicable law, including certain consumer protection rights under EU law.

9. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Spliq from any claims, damages, losses, or expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising out of your use of the Service, your violation of these Terms, or your violation of any third-party rights, including through actions taken on your Gmail account via the Service.

10. Termination

You may stop using the Service at any time and revoke its access to your Google account via your Google Account settings. We reserve the right to suspend or discontinue the Service (in whole or in part) at any time, with or without notice, including if we reasonably believe you have violated these Terms.

11. Changes to the Service or These Terms

We may modify or discontinue the Service, or update these Terms, at any time. Material changes to these Terms will be reflected by an updated “Last updated” date. Continued use of the Service after changes take effect constitutes your acceptance of the revised Terms.

12. Governing Law

These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the European Union and its Member States, without regard to conflict-of-law principles, unless mandatory consumer protection laws of your country of residence provide otherwise.
